The Role:

We work within integrated multidisciplinary teams that include qualified and unqualified social workers, OTs, rehabilitation workers and other related support services. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you’ll promote best practice and person-centred care, guide and mentor others, and promote a culture of learning. But you’ll also lead by example. Working with older people and adults with physical disabilities, you’ll carry out assessments, create care plans and work closely with other agencies to provide support.  We’ll also look to you for innovative ideas:  you’ll have every opportunity to use your expertise to contribute to policy-making and service delivery improvements.

About You:

A qualified and registered Occupational Therapist, you’ll have significant experience in a local authority setting, including exposure to safeguarding adults’ procedures and risk assessments. You’ll be used to supervising students and other staff and will have excellent assessment and partnership-working skills. Well-organised and calm under pressure, you’ll be a strong communicator with a commitment to helping others achieve their full potential.

Role Requirements:

•    Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists or B Sc O.T.
•    Registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Health Professions Council (HPC)
•    Proven experience of working with older and disabled people
•    Ability to undertake holistic assessments of service user’s and carer’s needs and establish their priorities
•    Knowledge of relevant legislation and an awareness of its impact on user group
•    Awareness of the importance of current professional issues and an ability to consider these within the context of departmental issues
•    Awareness of Health and Safety legislation and guidance
•    Awareness of issues affecting people with disabilities living in an inner-city area.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.
