We are looking for a high performing, enthusiastic individual with either previous experience or the relevant transferrable skills to join our Democratic Services team undertaking committee management and scrutiny support work. This will include:

  • Preparing and publishing agenda for decision making and scrutiny meetings;
  • Attending and producing minutes for those meetings;
  • Advising on constitutional and working practices

You will be highly motivated, with proven ability to work under your own initiative and to work well within a team.

You will be personable and approachable with excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as being able to apply total discretion and sensitivity to working in a political environment.

This role is initially fixed term until 31 May 2021, but there is a possibility for permanent opportunities.

This post is 37 hours per week on average, although the majority of meetings covered are held on weekdays evenings, resulting in Time Off In Lieu when service needs allow and meaning that some weeks employees do more than the standard 37 and others less

This post is deemed as politically restricted. As designated politically restricted officers, employees will not be allowed to undertake certain activities. Please refer to the guidance attached for further information.

The Council is highly committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.
