About us

At Essex County Council we're already making plans to ensure our long-term economic recovery. We're taking this opportunity to create a greener, more productive and fairer economy that is stronger and more resilient than ever before. Growing our economy means working with local businesses to help them take advantage of new market opportunities. It means attracting investment to improve digital outreach across the county, supporting hard hit businesses to recover economic prosperity, whilst encouraging their plans for the future, as we drive invest into the revitalisation and regeneration of key places. And it means helping the people of Essex to grow and develop their skills, ready to fulfil the needs of a vibrant new business economy, where local manufacturers and suppliers meet many of the county's needs.

About the role

Your expertise will be key to ensuring the public and private sector work together to achieve economic recovery and lay the foundations for future growth. Specifically, you'll develop a strong pipeline of capital projects that address the economic infrastructure requirements of both public and private organisations. These might include high-quality environments for skills development, workplaces that meet business needs, cutting-edge facilities for research and innovation, fast and reliable digital infrastructure, or sustainable access to retail, leisure and civic amenities. You will determine the rationale for public sector intervention and coordinate initial financial and economic appraisals. You'll then seek out investment opportunities, funding opportunities and delivery partners.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

You're likely to have a background as a commercial property agent, capital investment manager or project manager. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, are key, as are project management and financial management abilities. You'll have an excellent professional network of contacts, coupled with an expert knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of the Essex economy and property markets. The capacity to work in collaboration with a range of partners to deliver tangible results is vital. Meanwhile, your exceptional communication skills will ensure influence and credibility at the most senior levels.
