About Us:

In Kensington and Chelsea, we have an ambitious Council Plan which sets out our priorities for the next four years. It is directly shaped by the Council’s biggest ever ‘conversation’ with residents and puts community involvement at its heart. Embedding lessons learnt and recovering from the pandemic will be top priorities.

We want to ensure our approach to housing delivers social value and aligns with our ambitions on equality, diversity and inclusion. This includes looking after our most vulnerable residents, ensuring they have access to support with welfare rights, personal finance, life skills and the maintenance of personal independence.

The Role:

Working in close collaboration with a number of other agencies such as adult social care and mental health services, you’ll provide a customer-focused housing support service. Your goal is to help residents sustain their tenancies and live independently in their homes. Together you’ll identify residents or households who would benefit from support and draw up personalised plans for delivering practical advice and other interventions. There is a particular emphasis on self-neglect and hoarding, as well as working with households who have been negatively affected by welfare reform and issues such as Covid. This is a well-resourced area that is focused on making a genuine difference.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

This role is about fostering good relationships with both tenants and other agencies to deliver responsive yet pragmatic solutions. You’re likely to have a background in a customer-facing role, ideally within housing, including significant experience of crisis management. Familiarity with issues around mental health, physical disability and substance misuse would be helpful. A practised problem-solver and negotiator, able to overcome bureaucratic obstacles, you’ll be well-organised, resilient and resourceful. You’ll also need to be self-sufficient and flexible, able to set your own boundaries and organise your own workload.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online and ensure that you specify how to meet the person specification, organisational values and job description in your personal statement.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.

We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings.

We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.
