SEND Strategy and Innovation Support Officer

Job Overview

The SEND Strategy and Innovation Team has the responsibility of the School Effectiveness team, SEND development, SEND operations, SEN Tribunal, SEN Capital programme and developing the SEMH strategy across Essex.

You will be working within a small team, providing proactive and efficient support to the SEND Strategy and Innovation team managers, delivering high quality administration support, which lead to positive improvements in service delivery, including diary management to the Head of SEND Strategy and Innovation.

This role would suit an experienced administrator, with strong organisational skills. You will need to have good communication skills and the ability to build good working relationships, leading to excellent customer service outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering high quality administration support services, including all aspects of administration
  • Creating and maintaining records and databases across the SEND Strategy and Innovation team
  • Work collaboratively with team managers to support compliance processes and organisational responsibilities and requirements
  • Develop good working relationships with colleagues/stakeholders and families to ensure a quality service is provided
  • Responsible for the effective management of key appointments and ensure prioritisation of items for attention, according to sensitivity, confidentiality and contention
  • Support the administration activities for the SEN appeals process, to ensure documentation and court timelines are met
  • Responsible for organising and facilitating conferences, events and meetings, including liaising with schools to ensure the effective organisation of termly meetings across the quadrants
  • Responsible for ensuring all minutes, correspondence, reports and presentations are prepared and delivered in a timely manner, with relevant supporting documentation
  • Working collaboratively with the School Communication team and Educational Psychology teams to ensure critical incidents are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Provide support to the SEND Strategy and Innovation managers to ensure effective income management and ensure invoices are raised when required
  • Ensure specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent by experience
  • Evidence of continuing development within a similar role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with evidence of the ability to develop and sustain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively within a team to deliver agreed outcomes
  • Knowledge and familiarity of working with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Evidence of being able to prioritise effectively, work at pace and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Evidence of being able to present information in a structured manner
  • Ability to build good working relationships across a large, complex organisation with colleagues and customers
