This role is based within the Connected Person Assessment Team which is part of the wider Fostering service. In Kirklees we try wherever possible to keep children within their extended families, to maintain their links with birth parents and promote their identity.
The Assessment Team is a small yet well-established team in Kirklees who are responsible for completing a variety of assessments both for Court Proceedings and Fostering Panel.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can complete written assessments to a high standard. Experience of completing both Fostering and Special Guardianship assessments would be an advantage.
Although this role will be focused upon the assessment and approval of Connected Carers you may at times be asked to undertake various duties from within the wider Fostering service.
You will be joining Kirklees Fostering at a time of change and development and therefore will be part of our journey going forward. Mobile and agile working is in place across the service so some flexibility is required to be able to meet the requirements of the role.
You must hold a recognised Social Work Qualification and be registered with Social Work England regulator.
Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving license and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car.

This job is subject to an enhanced DBS check. A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
