Job Details

We are proud to represent all of London’s 32 borough councils and the City of London. A truly cross-party organisation, we work on behalf of all our member authorities to deliver services and be the voice of London’s councils.

Every London borough is unique with its own local priorities and challenges yet the pandemic has made us even more determined to collaborate and speak with one voice. We must achieve the best deal we can for London’s residents and businesses, and ensure London’s post-Covid challenges are recognised and understood across Whitehall.

For London Councils, there has never been a more important time to champion the needs of our Capital City. We are determined to draw on the huge resource and creativity across our city to support an inclusive economic recovery and address the deep inequalities this pandemic has exposed. We must ensure the sustainability of services that our residents rely on to improve their lives including their health and wellbeing.

To make the case for London, we are looking for a Chief Executive with a deep-seated passion for, and commitment to, our city and the role of local government. You will enjoy navigating central government and will bring a track-record of relationship building and the ability to influence across London’s complex and rich public sector landscape which includes the Greater London Authority, Metropolitan Police Service and London’s health economy.

We believe this is a special job which offers an exceptional new Chief Executive the opportunity to work across political boundaries to advocate London’s future as a thriving and inclusive global city.
