About Us:

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. We are committed to embedding lessons from the Grenfell tragedy and are undertaking a major capital programme to significantly enhance fire and building safety standards across council-owned residential and commercial properties.

Our Housing Management team is putting in place an ambitious plan: to deliver excellent contractor procurement, deliver uncompromising levels of safety across the estate and to achieve our zero carbon emissions target by 2030. We’re looking for an ambitious, positive professional with a real appetite for procurement to play a key part in delivering vital change and leaving a proud legacy.

The Role:

This is a great opportunity to take the key next step in your procurement career. You’ll use your rapport-building skills and natural team spirit to:

  • Monitor procurement activity and source suitably qualified service and works providers
  • Undertake core procurement processes to ensure compliant working practices in line with the Council’s Procurement Regulations, Procurement Strategy and the Public Contract Regulations 2015 (PCR)
  • Take responsibility for project managing procurement processes to deliver the works and services to the highest standard
  • Lead the procurement of straightforward works or services including initiating, documentating, drafting and issuing contract notices and tender documents, – managing the evaluation and preparation of the award of contract documentation to deadlines
  • Act as the contact point for all pre-qualification and tender queries, liaising with members of the project team.

About You:

We’re looking for some initial procurement experience – ideally in a large, public sector organisation. But what matters more are your personal skills. You’ll be a natural relationship-builder who’s happy client-facing and working with lots of different teams across our complex organisation. You’ll be able to positively challenge internal and external stakeholders – including those more senior than you.

On the more technical side, you’ll be comfortable gathering data, analysing and interpreting complex financial information, and able to assimilate and apply information relating to service delivery.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.

We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings.

We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.
