About Us:

Creating shared futures through consultative design

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. We are committed to embedding lessons learnt and are undertaking a major capital programme to significantly enhance fire and building safety standards across council-owned residential and commercial properties.

To meet this challenge, we’re expanding our Asset Management team, creating opportunities for ambitious professionals to shape our future direction. It’s a supportive environment where we encourage professionals to learn with and from each other and our local communities, with the goal of winning back trust and confidence.

The Role:

Develop your technical design expertise in a role that offers scope to make an impact on our investment programme, particularly in the area of specification standards. You’ll lead the way in developing design standards and materials choices. We’ll look to you to ensure these standards are defined and applied across the capital programme. You’ll also develop a framework of technical standards, along with measures to monitor and update them. Success depends on working closely with other experts in energy, fire safety and procurement, as well as residents and a range of contractors.

For more information on the role, please see the Job Description

About You:

With a background and professional qualification in construction or building design, you’re likely to have spent some time with a local authority, commercial asset manager or new-build housing provider. You’ll have a broad understanding of design and development, including strong data analysis skills relating to processes, materials and components. A sound understanding of the planning process, including the particular challenges of urban settings, is also important. You’ll also need the ability to work collaboratively, so strong interpersonal and influencing skills are vital.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.

We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings.

We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.
