Salary

About Us:

Driving best practice in person-centred care

In Kensington and Chelsea, we look after a diverse population, which includes people living in some of the nation’s most deprived wards. Our challenges have become particularly acute during the pandemic but, by sharing facilities and expertise in a bi-borough agreement with Westminster City Council, we have sustained joined-up health and social care services that put residents at their heart. We support people’s independence and wellbeing and work hard to enable them to live in the community with dignity, choice and control.

The Role:

You’ll provide strategic and practice leadership on the application of the Mental Capacity Act across the two boroughs. You’ll play an important role in ensuring we support adults whose mental capacity to make specific decisions is in doubt. You will lead on promoting and ensuring that an individual’s human rights and unique voice is at the centre of decision making and planning. Championing excellent practice across Adult Social Care you will develop mental capacity policy and practice, build resources and toolkits, and provide coaching and mentoring. There’s plenty of scope to work creatively and be part of a highly professional team which includes the Head of Safeguarding and Workforce Development, Principal Social Worker and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Manager.

For more information about the role, please see the full Job Description

About You:

Passionate about the rights of service users, you’ll be a qualified and registered social worker, nurse or occupational therapist with significant experience of working with a wide range of vulnerable adults and their carers. You’ll have extensive knowledge of the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act as well as other statutory frameworks. Adept at coaching and mentoring, you’ll also have the communication and influencing skills to manage change, and to work successfully in partnership with other organisations. You’ll share the council’s ambition to set new standards in excellence and innovation.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online, specifying how you meet the requirements for the role in your personal statement. CVs will not be considered for this role.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.

We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings.

We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.
