Job Details

Royal Greenwich is proud to be a borough synonymous with first class modern services. A world heritage site, our communities are vibrant and diverse, and we pride ourselves on being a well-managed and well-run authority.

We have also recently published our first digital strategy. To make that strategy into a reality, we need to hire a new digital, data and technology team to join our existing skill set.

The language we choose to communicate with our users is key to the organisation’s transformation. In your role as Senior Content Designer, you will be at the forefront of this, leading content design for our complex products and services.

With a relentless focus on the user, you will develop user-focused content across multiple services to create a seamless user experience. You will take responsibility for content across all channels, ensuring consistent style and making changes across whole services.

You will translate user feedback to content need and user stories, mapping organisational needs to content development. You will use your ability to prototype content in a range of tools.

You may be based in a product team, or in a smaller service team working on specific pieces of content – you will be able to flex between different delivery models, and be familiar with agile ways of working and iterative product delivery.

You will have strong communications skills, including the ability to translate business language into plain English, bridging the gap between a corporate service need and a user need. Using an empathetic and co-operative approach, you will influence at a senior level and work with senior leaders across the council to help them understand content design and the role it plays in improving service delivery.

Taking experience of coaching and mentoring into your work you will take an active interest in development of more junior content designers, meeting the standards of the service and making significant contributions to the digital community at the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

In return, we offer a range of benefits which include:

  • Annual Season Ticket Loan
  • Childcare Voucher Scheme
  • Learning and development opportunities to maximise your potential, including excellent apprenticeship opportunities at all levels
  • Reduced rate Gym Membership
  • Eyecare Vouchers
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Long Service Awards
  • Generous Annual Leave entitlement and
  • Excellent Pension Scheme
  • GreenwichCard which entitles you to discounts at local businesses
  • Employee Assistance Scheme including external counselling service
  • A range of flexible working arrangements
  • Staff networks

At the moment, the role will be 100% remote working. As the covid pandemic abates, we would like you to work partly from the office and partly from home.
