The Post

Brent Council is now recruiting for a critical and exciting position to lead development and delivery of Employment Programmes in the Borough. The Employment Programmes Lead will be responsible for delivering a wide range of projects and service development initiatives to support the council’s employment-related priorities.

They will lead work to secure external funding for employment initiatives across the borough, coordinating project development and writing bid submissions. They will also develop quality assurance systems and measures and manage programmes on an ongoing basis to deliver successful outcomes to meet borough employment priorities.

An employment programme lead is required to take forward employment projects and service development initiatives in conjunction with employers, stakeholders and sub-regional partners.

The role requires experience of managing and delivering programmes and services, bid writing, securing external funding opportunities and working with strategic partners to secure and deliver enhanced programmes and services in a context of change nationally, regionally (the London devolution agenda), and locally.

The employment offer in Brent is a key political priority for the council and is evolving. The post holder will support programmes and programme development to meet changing community demands and bid for funding to build new additional capacity and services. This currently includes projects to support Work and Health, Care Leavers, prevention of offending and re-offending, and specialised support for residents from groups facing the greatest labour-market disadvantage.

The Person

We are seeking a highly effective employment programme lead, with understanding and demonstrable experience of developing and delivering complex service projects with excellent outcomes for residents, as well as managing a multiplicity of relationships with wide-ranging internal and external stakeholders.

Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience.
