Salary range for this role is between £66,000 to £88,000 per annum. Applications made that sit outside of this salary range may still be considered, dependent on skills and experience.

This is a unique opportunity on a 6 month fixed term contract, to help contribute to the improvement of the County's public's health and wellbeing, whilst leading and managing the response to Covid-19 successfully.

You will be accountable for developing and delivering inter-agency long and short term strategic plans, projects and programmes in response to Covid-19, delivering key public health targets and ensuring that performance is clearly defined in terms of benchmarked outcomes, budgetary, performance and quality targets.

This role provides professional advice and knowledge in respect of public health, so you should have experience of using complex information to explain public health issues to a wide audience. You will be a strategic thinker with analytical skills to utilize both qualitative (including health economics) and quantitative information.

You will build strong collaborative relationships with the ability to influence senior members including directors, CEO's and external stakeholders, in their public health policy decisions, whilst motivating and leading partner initiatives, lead teams and contribute effectively in meetings. The role will need to develop clinical quality assurance; quality improvement and evidence based clinical practice.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

With inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists and with minimum CPD requirements (i.e. be up to date) in accordance with Faculty of Public Health requirements or other recognised body, you will have an in depth understanding of the health and care system and the relationships with both local and national government.

You will hold an MFPH by examination, by exemption or by assessment, and a masters in public health would be desirable.

You will have in depth knowledge of methods of developing clinical quality assurance, quality improvement evaluations and evidence based public health practice, and a strong and demonstrable understanding of interfaces between health, social care and key partners (dealing with wider determinants of health)

You will be committed to working within a political system irrespective of personal political affiliations with experience of delivering successful change management programmes across organizational boundaries

If included in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List in a specialty other than public health medicine/dental public health, candidates must have equivalent training and/or appropriate experience of public health medicine practice

Please note Public health specialty registrar applicants who are not yet on the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List in dental public health/UKPHR must provide verifiable signed documentary evidence that they are within 6 months of gaining entry at the date of interview; all other applicants must provide verifiable signed documentary evidence that they have applied for inclusion in the GMC/GDC/UKPHR specialist registers
