The Client Affairs Team are looking to appoint a part-time Client Affairs Team Officer to undertake the day to day financial management of our Court of Protection Deputyship customers.

The role requires you to manage the daily income and expenditure of a large number of customers and ensure each account is accurate and up to date.   Income includes Department of Work and Pensions benefits, private pensions and investment income.  Expenditure includes utility bills, care fees and personal allowance.  

You will ensure that there are sufficient funds for expenditure, and that there have been no duplicated invoices. You will be expected to pick up on any anomalies in the accounts to ensure appropriate benefits are being received and to identify any future issues, therefore a basic understanding of DWP benefits would be useful.

You will support the team with administration tasks such as managing our customers’ cherished documents and correspondence.

Providing the first point of contact with other Council departments, external agencies and our vulnerable customers, you will be confident in dealing with stakeholders of all types.  An ability to deal with arising situations on your own initiative is vital.

The role also involves arranging trades people to attend customer’s properties where required.  In the event of a customer’s death, you will be required to assist in the locating of and contact with the executor, preparation of accounts and documentation, and possibly even the arrangement of a suitable funeral.

This role is varied and fast paced but provides a chance to make an important difference in our customers lives.

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Experienced financial administrators with a keen eye for detail and excellent IT skills.
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Excel, accurate data input and reconciling financial accounts.
  • Organised workers with the flexibility to deal with changing priorities and a high volume of work.
  • Confident to deal with a variety of stakeholders including vulnerable clients.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
