The Sensory and Rehabilitation team at Kensington and Chelsea are committed to delivering the most exceptional level of service to everyone who needs our help. Managing a team of sensory and rehabilitation professionals across both councils and working with multiple partners ranging from hospitals to voluntary organisations, you’ll lead this ongoing transformation in how we support people with a sensory impairment. Putting the measures in place to move from traditional to modern approaches, you will focus on personalising and digitalising assessments, rehabilitation, equipment and social care services, encouraging colleagues to embrace assisted technology to promote their clients’ independence. Shaping our processes and systems, you’ll see to it that people with sensory needs have an influence over how services are being commissioned and delivered, and you’ll continue to enhance performance across the team.

About You:

With extensive experience (and the relevant qualifications and registration) in social work or rehabilitation, you’ll have a significant background in working with adults with sensory needs. You’ll have comprehensive multidisciplinary management experience and the ability to handle budgets and commission and develop services. Well versed in safeguarding, you’ll need a good knowledge of anti-discriminatory practice and theories of empowerment. Above all else, you’ll be a natural leader with the capacity to drive change and take the team on the relevant journey with you.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs.
