About Us:

Working creatively together to offer the best outcomes for our children and their families.

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. We are committed to ensuring the most vulnerable families can access the support they need, when they need it.

As a Council we continue to strive in being creative and proactive with our delivery of services. Our hard work has been recognised by Ofsted and our last two inspections have earned us Outstanding judgements.

The Role:

Joining our Children’s Social Work team, you’ll focus on all aspects of intervention including, participating in a duty rota, child in need, those in need of protection, court work, looked after children and care leavers, working towards building trust and engagement though long-term relationships with your service users. Manageable caseloads, close collaboration with outside agencies and the backing of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team mean you can offer the highest standards of care. You’ll also have the opportunity to deploy systemic ideas and use relational models to support families, working alongside and learning from recognised experts in the field. In allocating cases, we’ll encourage you to pursue any areas of specialist interest and make full use of your cultural competence. It’s an opportunity to develop and deepen your professional practice as you help to improve the life chances of children across our diverse communities.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

A qualified and registered social worker with some frontline experience, you’ll bring a creative, caring and committed approach to delivering better outcomes for children.  A thorough understanding of child development and children’s social work legislation is essential. Highly organised, with strong communication skills, you’ll be able to work under pressure. You’ll also be keen to take advantage of the learning and development opportunities offered by being part of this expert team.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

If you feel that this could be the role for you, then please complete our online application form, giving examples of how your skills and experience meet the person specification.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.

We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings.

We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.
