The Role:

Joining our Children’s Social Work team, you’ll focus on all aspects of intervention including, participating in a duty rota, child in need, those in need of protection, court work, looked after children and care leavers, working towards building trust and engagement though long-term relationships with your service users. Manageable caseloads, close collaboration with outside agencies and the backing of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team mean you can offer the highest standards of care. You’ll also have the opportunity to deploy systemic ideas and use relational models to support families, working alongside and learning from recognised experts in the field. In allocating cases, we’ll encourage you to pursue any areas of specialist interest and make full use of your cultural competence. It’s an opportunity to develop and deepen your professional practice as you help to improve the life chances of children across our diverse communities.

About You:

A qualified and registered social worker with some frontline experience, you’ll bring a creative, caring and committed approach to delivering better outcomes for children.  A thorough understanding of child development and children’s social work legislation is essential. Highly organised, with strong communication skills, you’ll be able to work under pressure. You’ll also be keen to take advantage of the learning and development opportunities offered by being part of this expert team.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.
