City of York Council’s adoption service is part of One Adoption North and Humber, a high performing regional adoption agency, and we are looking to appoint 2 adoption social workers for the York area. One Adoption is committed to providing timely, high quality services to meet the needs of Looked after Children who need permanence through adoption. This work involves the recruitment and assessment of prospective adopters, providing training and support, family finding for those children with an adoption plan and offering support to families when children are placed pre and post the making of an Adoption Order.
We are looking for enthusiastic, “can do” social workers to join our team and help make a difference to the lives of adopted children and their families. You must be willing to work across the range of adoption services and be enthusiastic and committed to improving outcomes for children. If this is you and you also meet the requirements of the post, then we would love to hear from you.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
Relocation expenses, in accordance with the City of York Council’s Relocation Policy, may be available for the successful candidate subject to meeting the relevant criteria.
