Striving for Fairness and Equity in these challenging times

Islington is a dynamic, vibrant, accessible central London borough with a proud history. It also suffers from high levels of deprivation which has been compounded by the recent pandemic. As a Council we are committed to creating a fairer Islington – one which will bridge the social divide and create opportunity for all, particularly our most vulnerable residents.

Our new Director of Adult Social Care will lead and manage all strategic and operational services, acting as principal adviser to elected members and working collaboratively with our residents, staff, partners and communities. Reporting to the Corporate Director of People, Carmel Littleton, you will be the statutory DASS, with a remit to challenge the status quo and help us to modernise the way we think and act - focusing on a strengths-based approach, early intervention/prevention and increased digitalisation.

Our service has responded well to recent events and is in a strong position to transform the way it operates, but it will take your creativity, tenacity and inspirational leadership to get us to the next stage and create a better, brighter future. You will have the full support of elected members, Chief Executive and the corporate team to make that a reality.

This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious individual who is passionate about fairness, can deliver change and who wants to make a real difference for the people of Islington.
