Job Details

We are continuing to build a future for Jersey that will see people, business and government come together to collaborate in a way they have never done before.

The Economy Directorate is responsible for securing the future of Jersey’s economy, by sustaining, diversifying and growing our economic sectors. It provides strategic economic advice and analysis across Government which has proved critical in the Government’s successful policy response to support businesses and individuals financially during the coronavirus crisis and will also be of paramount importance to support policymaking for economic recovery.

The financial services industry is a fundamentally important part of the Island’s economy and for it to thrive, Jersey must continue to demonstrate high standards internationally whilst supporting innovation and promotion. Technologies of the future and digital capability are as an important part of the Department’s brief as the traditional mainstays of the economic landscape such as tourism and agriculture. These must be preserved, nurtured and enhanced so they can support Jersey’s thriving sports, arts, heritage and culture scene.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the role of Director General for the Economy is at the heart of Government. The post holder will be expected to work with partners to deliver economic growth and prosperity for Jersey. We are open-minded about what you are doing now, but it’s likely that you will bring a range of different experiences and have extensive knowledge of financial services and economic development principles and practices from settings that resonate with our context here in Jersey.
