TOWARDS A FAIRER ISLINGTON.

We're determined to make Islington fairer. To create a place where everyone, whatever their background, can reach their potential and enjoy a good quality of life. In the establishment of our Fairness Commission in 2010 we have been widely praised for the pioneering way in which we went about seeking to address inequality of wealth, health, housing, education, and crime in the borough.

This new and innovative role will take responsibility for continuing this fundamental work and in leading the work of the Fairer Together Borough Partnership to tackle inequality and make Islington fairer. We need you to build a world class approach to an “all age” early intervention and prevention service that transforms experiences and outcomes for each and every one of our community whatever their age or social circumstance. 

Working closely with the Leader of the Council, Executive, the Chief Executive, the Corporate Director for People, and our colleagues you will develop a new blueprint for public service delivery. You will set the ambition, you will define the values, and you will design and implement a comprehensive strategy for aligning resources and integrating key service areas across the council and the wider service partnerships.

With a track record in effective strategic leadership and delivery at a senior level including working with members and partners you must have experience of leading transformational change across multiple organisations. In what can be a challenging political environment you will need to be adept at supporting cultural transformation, which will be integral to the success of this role.

Able to establish your credibility quickly you must possess a strong commitment to social justice with experience of challenging inequality for marginalised groups and improving outcomes through delivery of effective programmes and services.
