Strategic Director, Place
Extraordinary, energetic and enterprising. Bradford is modern Britain at its best.
We have huge ambition for Bradford. Our district is bold, outward-looking and globally connected. We celebrate our rich heritage whilst looking forward to the future as a modern, well-connected and innovative place. According to Barclays, Bradford is the best place to start a high growth business in the UK and, as home to the youngest city in the UK, we are digital natives with a global reach.
We have already achieved an incredible amount and the district is home to a number of assets, such as the multi award-winning and internationally renowned City Park and the 570,000 sq ft Broadway shopping centre. Whilst we’re already feeling confident, we now seek a strong, authentic leader that will build on this culture of achievement and excellence to deliver even stronger outcomes.
As Strategic Director, you will provide inspirational leadership across the service, the Council, with partners and across our place, putting the needs and aspirations of our citizens at the heart of everything we do. This role is hugely exciting and designed for someone who is bold and ambitious; someone who can unlock new opportunities to enable Bradford to flourish and to position our district more prominently, both locally and nationally.
Reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with councillors and key stakeholders, you’ll lead the implementation of the Council’s economic strategy, including the continued regeneration of our city and town centres across the wider district and the promotion of Bradford district to investors, businesses and skilled workers. Working for the Council will give you a chance to play a real part in the transformation of the district and contribute to delivering excellent services to local residents, working with partners and communities to promote a whole systems approach, driving effective action on social and economic inclusion and tackling inequalities.
We have a clear vision for the future and want you to be a part of it. You’ll have a successful track record of delivering relevant, large-scale transformation projects at a senior level, with experience of developing appropriate governance frameworks, strategies and policy to ensure the delivery of inclusive outcomes for all.
