Overview

With construction work well underway, the impact of both High-Speed Two (HS2) and East-West Rail (EWR) has already been felt by our local communities and businesses across the county. In this role, you'll support us to address practical problems occurring as a result of these works such as road closures, damage on verges, and speeding lorries. Working as part of our in-house Major Projects team, you'll act as a voice for our residents, as you work collaboratively with HS2 and East-West Rail to tackle these issues.

About the role

Major Projects is a new service at Buckinghamshire Council covering all national infrastructure projects taking place across the county including HS2 and EWR, and emerging Development Constant Orders such as Heathrow and Western Rail Link to Heathrow (WRLTH) and Luton Airport. As a single point of contact for these schemes, we coordinate the Council's response and input throughout each project.

By joining us as an HS2 Marshall, you'll play a key part in providing a constructive impact on your community, as you work on two of the biggest infrastructure projects of recent times. You'll also have great exposure to key stakeholders including local MPs, councillors, HS2 Ltd, EWR Alliance, parishes, and communities.

Please see Job summary for more details.

About you

Naturally, you'll come to us with excellent communication and writing skills, and enjoy working both independently and as part of a wider team.

Establishing good working practices with HS2 and EWR contractors is a must, so you can confidently deal with local issues as they arise. Most importantly, you'll have excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working with different types of people, as you work at pace to resolve issues on the ground.
