Head of Support Services and Transformation,

Head of Inclusion, Early Years and Participation

We are offering two exceptional people the exciting opportunity to join on our mission to make Neath Port Talbot a place where people are proud to live, learn, work, and raise their families.

As Head of Support Services and Transformation your areas of responsibility will include leading the modernisation of our school estate through the 21st Century Schools Programme, and help provide strategic direction for our leisure and culture services. Furthermore you will be responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of support services to schools. To succeed in this role you will combine proven commercial skills, an empathy for the delivery of services that support education and strong public sector values.

As Head of Inclusion, Early Years and Participation you will lead on the development of policy and strategy for early years, develop the network of support for families, and advocate for learners with additional needs. To succeed in this role you need to be passionate about improving the lives of all children and families, be able to build strong alliances on behalf of children and young people with all partners and be totally committed to equality and inclusion.

This beautiful part of south Wales is located between the cities of Swansea and Cardiff, close to the Gower Peninsula and the Brecon Beacons. Valleys and waterfalls, rivers and coastline provide a backdrop for many activities including walking, mountain biking and surfing.

With over 140,000 residents and service users, this is a thriving area rich in history, but with eyes fixed firmly on the future.

We are committed to progressing our ambitious capital investment programme including new schools, town centre regeneration, and culture and leisure facilities. We are also leading on the delivery of a regional City Deal programme of projects to boost low carbon growth, support our steel industry, and create high quality jobs in the innovation and cleantech sectors.

As with the rest of the country, the post Covid-19 landscape presents significant challenges but also opportunities. Here at Neath Port Talbot Council we intend to make the most of these opportunities, building on the enormous community and partnership response during the pandemic.

We have learnt a lot as an organisation over the last year and these learnings will underpin our organisational development work going forward. There is lots to do and plenty of exciting initiatives to be part of. If you’re up to the challenge, we look forward to hearing from you.
