This opportunity is to be offered on a 1 year Fixed Term basis

Active Essex, a team within this function, is seeking a Local Delivery Pilot (LDP) Intern to support are work to tackle physical inactivity across Essex.

Essex is one of 12 places, chosen by Sport England to be Local Delivery Pilots (LDP's) and has secured £10.68m from Sport England, to transform the way that inactive people in disadvantaged communities are engaged through a whole systems approach. This is a dynamic and sector leading piece of work, building on the Sport England and DCMS outcomes from "Towards an Active Nation" and the Active Essex strategy "Changing 1 Million lives." This has created a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and ambitious professional to become part of a highly regarded team

Job Purpose

The Active Essex LDP Intern will work with the Lead Project Administrator to contribute to ensuring the team delivering £10million programme is supported.

Flexibility within the role is key, with the post holder gaining experience of working within a fast paced sport and physical activity project. Contributing to delivering a robust project infrastructure, underpinned by reporting and administration processes, to produce work within timelines, the post holder will gain a detailed knowledge of the work of the LDP.

Delivering across the breath of the operation of the LDP programme, the role will include supporting communications, marketing, evaluation and impact workstreams and tasks, along with working supporting overall organisation, administration, recording of meetings and organising programme events.

A key task, working with a project group, with be providing day to day support in the operations and administration of micro grant application process.

Role responsibilities

  • Contributes to fit for purpose programme and project control solutions, for planning, scheduling and tracking of projects and programmes, to ensure targets for quality are achieved and change is escalated for management action.
  • Contributes to the operation of project filing, for compiling and distributing reports to all relevant parties to ensure communication and the provision of information to support effective decisions.
  • Contribute to delivering administrative services to project boards, project assurance teams and quality review meetings to ensure smooth operation and efficient completion of governance activities.
  • Maintains the programme/project management filing system ensuring computerised files and folders are structured, organised, reviewed and maintained to prevent the risk of delay or cost causing project/programme failure Contributes to providing and/or supporting ad hoc work to ensure the smooth operation of the Programme Office and continuity in the provision of services.
  • As part of employment with Essex County Council should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
