Location: Basildon

About the Role

Working to support adults and their families who have complex social needs and are more vulnerable as a result of disability, exclusion, or diminished capacity, you'll maximise their potential to live independently.

You will assess social care needs using a person centred and strengths based approach and contribute to the development of care and support plans. The role will require you to manage a caseload, including assessment of risk through direct work, within a quality assurance process. A focus of the role will be to ensure vulnerable people are safeguarded in line with ECC's statutory obligations.

We currently have several opportunities for Community Support Workers within our South Essex area.

Our teams in South Essex are primarily based out of our offices in Basildon. South Essex borders the unitary authority of Southend and Thurrock and also offers the opportunity to work with health partners within the area. In addition, the area also has good links to London. With a mix of Urban and some rural/ semi-rural locations, the variety and scope of the work you will be able to get involved in is huge.

About Us

With us, you can achieve more - for yourself as well as the vulnerable adults you work to support. We're always looking for new ways to deliver even better services, community support workers play an integral role in supporting our Social Workers and Occupational Therapist . We encourage our multi-disciplinary teams to share their ideas and experience. We work together to get things done. Bring your positive, proactive attitude, and we'll empower you to make the most of your experience as a Social Worker within Essex County Council (ECC) Adult Social Care services.

About You

You'll bring a strong ability to build effective relationships with adults and their families in times of challenge and crisis. You will have the drive and passion to want to make a difference, and a willingness to learn. Ideally you will have some experience of activity-based work with adults and some knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within social care settings.

This role involves travelling around Essex. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential. However, given the current pandemic Essex County Council continues to review its ways of working during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We continue to work within adult social care with a focus on "digital first", where the default position is, where possible, for our staff to work from home (this is continuously reviewed).

All candidates applying to Adult Social Care will be expected to join on a 12-week rota on a 6-day shift pattern and this will include some weekend work. However, we still promote flexible working and a flexible work pattern can be discussed. For further details please enquire with our resourcing team, alternatively working patterns can be discussed at interview.

As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate. This is an annual subscription and you will be responsible for ensuring this is maintained. For further information on the DBS update service please go to https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service .

What we offer in return
