Job Details

Place and Economy is at the forefront of making sure Cambridgeshire is open for business. This role is based within the Commissioning Service, working with the Highways and Street Lighting service, it provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to develop and excel in highway services.

You will support the management of the Authority’s Highways Service commissions that deliver corporate and directorate objectives, focused on user needs and outcomes. Monitoring and improving the performance of our contracts and maintaining relationships with our service providers.

Manage Highways and Street Lighting contracts, day to day business, ensuring compliance with the contracts, monitoring, work with operational and commercial teams to deliver value for money, to industry and contract standards. Manage the resolution of contractual conflicts and issues as these arise

Co-ordinate contacts between internal teams and with customers and partners annual programmes of work, contract performance and improvement.

With a proven ability and knowledge of highways services, benefit from working within local government and the matters affecting its successful delivery. You will have a clear understanding of how to manage the needs of a diverse set of stakeholders and manage expectations, be able to communicate the benefits of effective commissioning of Highways Services.

You should be comfortable working with officers, politicians, partners and working with a range of stakeholders, including the public. You must be approachable and adaptable, with the appropriate technical and ingenuity attributes, with good interpersonal skills and be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

This post will principally be based at Vantage House, Huntingdon but has a flexible structure to cope with varying workload pressures and a countywide service, the post holder will be required to work from a number of bases across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. However, due to COVID-19, we are currently working from home.
