This is a brand newly created post within the Health Service to incorporate both Children and Adults services combined. This is both an exciting and unique opportunity to truly become a key player in the creation and delivery of safeguarding structures and policies within the Health Service. You will play an instrumental part in both steering and shape the strategic agenda of the overall Safeguarding Service. You will offer strategic direction across health services with a major focus on multiagency stakeholder relationships.

The post holder, a strong people manager, and mentor will take the strategic lead in all aspects of Safeguarding & Welfare of Children and Vulnerable Adults.

Working closely and in partnership with the Medical Leads for Safeguarding on all aspects of Manx Care Isle of Man Health Service, contributing to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

The Role:

Join our team as Health Services Head of Safeguarding (Adults and Children), servicing the population on the Isle of Man!

This is a great opportunity to take on a leadership role within Health Services, where you will work closely with the Director of Nursing who holds Board responsibility for safeguarding, partner agencies involved in the Local Safeguarding Board, Care Group Matrons, and Clinical Directors. You will have operational involvement in complex cases related to children and vulnerable adults, providing expert advice to the organisation and support to colleagues.

You will lead the delivery of the safeguarding agenda, whilst continuing to foster a culture that encourages high-quality practice, knowledge, and learning at all levels, as well as demonstrating sustainable improvement in the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children.

As part of your role, you will lead and further develop a safeguarding team, which is currently made up of nurses for safeguarding children and adults, and the safeguarding practitioners for children and midwifery.

You will have a clear understanding of the national safeguarding agenda and local statutory responsibilities, to ensure the organisation is compliant with best-practice standards and with statutory safeguarding responsibilities.

What can this role offer me:

You can take advantage of the excellent opportunities we provide for personal and professional development. This includes the use of our Learning, Education and Development Centre and the fantastic range of fully funded courses we support.
