We have an exciting opportunity at Copeland Borough Council.

As the Head of Economic Growth, Investments and Implementation, you will work closely with Chief Officers, Members and peers to drive forward the Council’s vision, strategic priorities and corporate objectives. You will work in partnership with other teams within the Council to encourage and develop commercial services and opportunities, which will feed the Council’s commercial pipeline.

Your experience of successful project/programme management will assist you in leading the project management of major regeneration and economic development programmes, and departmental projects, across the borough.

You will develop the borough and its towns as places for supporting business growth, community equality, cultural activity, and a diverse visitor experience which together contribute to the sustainable prosperity and economic vitality of Copeland.

Copeland is an attractive borough in which to work – both in terms of striking scenery and affordability. It boasts stunning natural beauty, with landscapes bounded by the quiet sandy beaches of the west coast, mountains with tranquil valleys, rivers and lakes, and a variety of small towns and villages full of character. In the majestic Wasdale Valley is Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England and ‘Britain’s Favourite View’ Wastwater, the deepest lake in England. Statistically the most affordable local authority in England and Wales in 2017, with median house prices being 2.7 times median workplace-based annual earnings, Copeland is one of the North West’s most exciting areas.
