Alternative flexible working options available/open to discussion

Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Because we’re not just home to the UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. As a Financial Reporting Accountant you will join Camden’s Finance division where you can demonstrate your technical accounting skills and have an appetite to contribute to the financial reporting function. Working with the Financial Reporting Manager you will be integral to the delivery of the statement of accounts, providing technical accounting expertise and advice to the Finance division and beyond.

The role

It’s an exciting time to join Camden’s Finance division. We have embedded our new financial system, Oracle Fusion, in 2018 and are looking to drive the function forward; harnessing reporting power and embedding processes to deliver a seamless Financial Reporting function. The role assists with the production of the annual statement of accounts; liaises with key stakeholders and services, including other finance staff and our external auditors. In addition, you will be the lead officer for VAT related enquiries and returns; as well as working on other various cross-cutting areas.

This role would give the successful candidate the ability to demonstrate expertise and capabilities in a technical accounting role which could be the bedrock of more senior roles in the future. We are a CIPFA Platinum Employer.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will preferably be fully qualified CCAB or be part qualified or have an equivalent recognised accountancy qualification, with the ability to interpret financial data and apply logic and judgement.

You will have expert knowledge of and understanding of technical accounting and VAT within a large organisation – preferably local government.

You will demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills, being able to explain the complex and legislative frameworks that apply to local government finance in a clear and concise manner.

The ability to build effective and productive working relationships with colleagues across the Council and demonstrate personal commitment to providing service delivery improvements, including financial processes is essential to the role.

We’re ready to welcome your ideas, your views, and your rebellious spirit. Help us redefine our corporate services, and we’ll redefine what a career can be.
