Camden Council has commenced the Camden Future High Streets programme, to support our high streets through the pandemic and into a robust recovery and re-imagined future.  Our vision is for Camden’s high streets and town centres to be ready to face the future.

We want them to be at the heart of their communities with all our residents able to reach their local centre by walking or cycling in 15 minutes or less.  We want the highstreets of the future to be inclusive places where the community can come together to shop, socialise, share knowledge, work and play.

We are taking a test and learn and place-based approach, being prepared to trial interventions to see works.  The team works in a responsive, agile and collaborative team setting to achieve the best outcomes possible for our communities.

We are looking for a pro-active, regeneration practitioner to join our dynamic team and play a leading role in the future highstreets programme and other work of the service as required.

A main responsibility of the role will be to devise and deliver a programme of coordinated high street projects in line with Camden’s Future High Street Vision and objectives.

You must be a self-starter, who can hit the ground running with excellent team working, collaboration and partnership building skills.  You must comfortable working with complexity, across a diverse range of disciplines and stakeholders to creatively problem solve and deliver projects on the ground.  You must be able to manage projects to meet demanding deadlines, lead others and galvanise support.  You will be an engaging communicator and able to report to senior officers, boards and members, in both written and verbal form.

In addition to the qualities outlined above, we are looking for a candidate with relevant professional experience in a number of the following key areas:

Place-based strategy development, area regeneration, project initiation management and/or implementation, policy/ document drafting, communications, business support, economic development, working with communities and local groups, public engagement (community and business), facilitation and hosting workshops, public realm,  partnership building, bidding for and managing funding, regeneration delivery, service design, town centre management, section 106 and CIL implementation, programme management & governance, working with BID’s and other partner organisations, town centre research data & analysis.
