About Barnet Council
Barnet is a borough with much to be proud of. Our excellent schools, vibrant town centres, vast green spaces and diverse communities all help make it a great place to live and work. As a council we want to build on these strengths as we move into the future. We are growing and developing as an organisation to meet the challenges facing our borough, and we are committed to working with partner organisations and residents to make Barnet even better.
As an organisation, our staff are committed to Our Values – We Care, We Can Be Trusted, We Work Together, We Value Diversity, We Embrace Change and Innovation – which drive everything we do.
About Corporate Communications
Barnet Council’s Corporate Communications team produces compelling, engaging content and multi-media campaigns to keep the borough’s residents, communities, businesses, and other stakeholders up to date on the projects, policies and services that are making Barnet a better place to live, work and study.
The team comprises specialist campaigns leads responsible for council portfolios, as well as a news and social media team to provide a regular drumbeat of positive stories charting the council’s progress in delivering on its strategy set out in the Barnet Plan 2021-2025.
About the role
The role will design, develop and implement Barnet’s Growth communications strategy to engage with and influence key audiences, including residents, businesses and the volunteer and community sector. This will be an artful blend of strategic campaigns and day-to-day good news stories, raising awareness and boosting the reputation of the council for its ambitious programme to build new homes and communities, upgrade transport and digital infrastructure, and creating local jobs and business opportunities
At the heart of the strategy is telling the story of how all residents are benefitting from the council’s Growth programme.
