Kirklees needs you!

Do you want to help stop the spread of Covid-19 in Kirklees?

Throughout the pandemic Kirklees Council and partners have been working closely with our communities to help stop the spread of Covid-19 through sharing up to date messages and information to support our communities and businesses to follow guidelines - as well as supporting individuals to self-isolate or access additional support. This is working well, and we need more people to join us to help us keep our communities safe.

To engage with as many residents and businesses as possible you will be working in our communities or testing sites throughout the day and in evenings and weekends. You will talk to residents and businesses, whilst maintaining social distancing (so you won’t go into houses) to encourage them to follow current guidelines, and advice (including access to testing and vaccinations) to prevent the spread of covid-19.

You’ll need to be a people person; your communication skills will be really important in this job, you’ll be able to communicate positively to encourage and persuade people to follow guidance and to share information about services that could provide additional support as well as accessing and registering at testing and vaccination facilities. You’ll understand some of the issues that Covid presents to our communities and the impact on individuals.

We are keen to encourage people who speak community languages to apply to make sure that we can reach all of our communities.

Your work will involve plenty of walking or standing so you’ll need comfy shoes and the Yorkshire winter weather means you’ll probably need a warm coat. Training and full appropriate PPE will be provided.

We’re looking for people who are able to work at least 2 days a week including evenings and weekends. This is an opportunity to make a real impact on our communities.

As our covid response is flexible to support our communities, you will have the opportunity to work in different areas and with different services. Take a look at some work you could be involved in.

Make a difference, apply now and help keep Kirklees safe.

Applications will be reviewed every week. The application process some questions for you to demonstrate how you meet the requirements of the job.

To apply for this job as a secondment you must be a substantive employee of the Council with over 6 months continuous service and have successfully completed your probation period.

Applications for secondments will only be accepted if approved by your manager, you will be asked to confirm on your application form that you have the relevant permission.

If you are refused permission to apply for a secondment please contact HR Recruitment to register the refusal.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
