The Post

The Senior HR Advisor will work in a team responsible for the provision of a professional, high quality business-focussed HR service; and as a business partner they will provide a dedicated service to a portfolio of schools and other educational establishments, both within and out of the borough. The Senior HR Advisor will also support the Schools HR Business Manager in developing and marketing the Human Resources Service, and will also contribute to development of HR Policies and processes.

The Person

As the Senior HR Advisor, you will be CIPD (chartered) qualified or have equivalent experience and you will ideally have a good working knowledge and understanding of the environment within which schools operate. You will be expected to have up-to-date knowledge and understanding of HR best practice and a thorough understanding of the practical application of employment law. Drawing on your exceptional communication and negotiation skills, you will have demonstrable experience of managing and bringing to a successful conclusion complex and contentious HR casework (i.e. disciplinary, sickness, capability and grievances) in addition to managing organisational change projects such as restructuring, redundancies, TUPE etc.

Utilising your excellent customer service and influencing skills, you will have the ability to build collaborative relationships with school leaders and trade unions alike in achieving satisfactory outcomes for schools. In addition to this, you will have sound business acumen to be able to support the Schools HR Business Manager in managing the Council’s HR traded services to schools and will have successful experience leading on a range of Human Resources activities ideally in an education/school environment. .
