As the birthplace of the co-operative movement, Rochdale is a borough where there is a genuine and long-established commitment to working together to improve the lives of local people. Our vision is to make Rochdale a great place to grow up, get on and live well through our strategic priorities of People, Place and Prosperity. As an integral part of Greater Manchester, we are also at the forefront of the devolution agenda which is driving integration and collaboration across health and social care.

Our children’s services is now widely recognised as innovative, award-winning and well run. Our focus is on strong relationships. We are making a positive difference to children, young people and families. With our highly skilled and dedicated workforce, the quality of our social work practice and the strength of our partnerships we feel it is an excellent time to join us and build on our continuous and demonstrable improvement. We are passionate about working with partners and families to ensure every child and young person in the borough has the opportunity to live their best life and as our new Director of Children’s Services, you will be key to making that a reality.

As well as ensuring every child has access to a strong and inspiring education, we are raising aspirations throughout the borough and providing children and young people the support they need to keep them safe, well and able to fulfil their full potential.

As a result of the current Director retiring, we are looking for someone who is excited about making a real difference to the lives of children and young people and who is ready to positively embrace the future of Children’s Services. We are looking for a leader who will continue to bring innovation and new thinking to our services to secure the best possible outcomes and help to create a place in which people can thrive. A strong collaborator; you will inspire and influence our committed partners to continue to work together with us for the benefit of our communities.
