An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Officer to join the busy and friendly Schools’ HR Team. The opportunity is available as a fixed term contact covering maternity leave (until July 2022).

About the service

We offer a range of services to help Schools manage a wide variety of human resources issues that will arise, saving them time and resources.

Our team of qualified and experienced human resources professionals provides direct support to school leaders and governing bodies. We help schools to ensure they have the right structure in place and a strong body of teaching and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Officers, you will provide support to schools with all HR activities including employee relations, reorganisations, head teacher recruitment, delivering training to schools’ staff on HR topics and advising on schools’ terms and conditions of employment, policies and procedures. You will also manage the schools’ redundancy budget and processes.

About you

Teamwork and excellent organisational skills are essential to meet our high standards of service. With a strong generalist background, preferably in a large, unionised organisation, you are confident advising on a full range of employee relations and educational issues including recruitment, disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and reorganisations. 

Sound knowledge of current and forthcoming employment law and a relevant HR qualification or equivalent professional experience are desirable.  All members of the Schools HR team undertake termly school visits as well as supporting at investigations and hearings at school sites.
