The Post

Brent Children and Young People’s Service is to looking to recruit enthusiastic and committed newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) who have come through the Step Up to Social Work programme to work across a range of service areas.

Whilst we at Brent have high expectations of our NQSWs you will be supported as part of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme. The ASYE is a nationally recognised 12-month programme for NQSWs to help you make the transition from the point of qualification to the professional social work role. The ASYE programme is well embedded and developed in Brent. Further support for NQSWs is a dedicated monthly reflective space for ASYEs, which is aimed at all ASYEs to complement your NQSW/ASYE year of practice.

As part of Brent’s workforce you will be entitled to attend a range of courses throughout your ASYE year, from Trauma-informed Practice/ Trauma Recovery Model to Signs of Safety as well as receiving ongoing support around the Practice Framework. There will be a range of social work duties and responsibilities that NQSWs will carry out, depending on the service area you are appointed to. You will be expected to underpin all of your work with a commitment to relationship-based practice and ensuring that the voice of the child is evident throughout.

The Person

You will have completed your Step Up to Social Work placements and be looking for your next step to complete your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). You will be someoone who is committed to improving the life experience for children and families and supporting them to manage without statutory support, when possible.

Applicants must also have a Social Work qualification and have current professional registration with Social Work England (SWE).
