We are on an ambitious journey and looking for a passionate and committed Youth Engagement Officer to work within the newly formed Youth Engagement Service.  

Kirklees is developing a Youth Practice Model identified as the Youth Engagement Service. The service aims to provide support to all Young People identified at Risk of all forms of Exploitation, Gang affiliation and Criminal influences.

The Youth Engagement Service is a multi-disciplinary team incorporating the skills and experience of several services within Kirklees Council and working together with partners to provide the broadest possible inventory of support for the Young people of Kirklees.

The Youth Engagement Service integrates a combination of teams involved in the support for Young people at risk of exploitation. As a Youth Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for supporting young people identified as being at risk of all aspects of exploitation.

The role will include developing projects aimed at minimising risk for young people, focusing on supporting the aims of relevant exploitation strategies. You will provide a range of both group and one to one support by working with young people on issues such as Child Sexual and Criminal Exploitation, Missing, Gang association, Radicalisation, Violent Extremism and Human Trafficking monitoring of information, identification of trends and real time interpretations that will contribute to plans aimed at mitigating risk.

As a member of the Youth Engagement Service, you will contribute to the development of plans and the innovation of effective solutions that aim to minimise and manage risk.

We are looking for an experienced individual with organisational qualities and the skills to interpret information and work in a collaborative way to find solutions. You will have a strong understanding of what best practice looks like and be passionate about inspiring and improving children’s lives. Working restoratively which involves innovation and locality working with high quality relationships at the heart of our approach.   A creative and flexible approach to work and the drive and motivation to improve our services are key.  You will report to the Team Manager and work within a multi-disciplinary and integrated team.
