The Applications team play a critical role in support of a wide range of platforms and technologies. The team is responsible for underpinning and delivering business applications and services to the council and Essex residents.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and knowledgeable Senior Applications Analyst to join the team. This role is varied, and responsibilities include full lifecycle support of web applications along with maintenance, configuration and management of on-premises and cloud-based services and platforms.

As a Senior Applications Analyst you will need to take the lead on driving forward change in response to dynamic business requirements and demands. You will need to be a good communicator and be able to collaborate with other specialised technical teams.

You will play a key role in some exciting and ambitious projects including the migration of on-premises applications to Azure, optimisation of web applications for the cloud environment and continued roll-out of Microsoft 365 suite and features.

Accountabilities

  • Full lifecycle support of web applications.
  • Management and maintenance of hosting platforms and technologies.
  • Maintaining knowledge of key products and their roadmaps to identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Monitoring and management of 'evergreen' solutions, taking action where new changes may cause compatibility, security or usability issues.
  • Collaborating with Solution Architects, Security Architects, Infrastructure and third parties to inform and support solution design and implementation.
  • Mentoring and developing Applications Analysts where required.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    Essential

  • Web application development using C#, ASP.NET and ASP.NET MVC 5, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, CSS and Bootstrap.
  • Experience of data driven development using MS SQL Server, T-SQL, Entity Framework.
  • Understanding of RESTful and web services, including knowledge of frameworks including ASP.NET Web API 2 and WCF.
  • Good written, verbal communication and presentational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Desirable

  • Experience of Azure using SaaS, PaaS and IaaS services.
  • Experience of support and configuration of Office 365 products e.g., SharePoint Online, Teams
  • SharePoint 2016 experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of:
    • ASP.NET Core 2.x
    • DevOps, CI/CD.
    • Front-end tooling including npm, gulp.js, SASS, linting.
  • An understanding of responsive design.
  • Familiar with accessibility guidelines (WCAG).
  • Knowledge of Umbraco, Java, Oracle Cloud or GIS
  • Hold Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) and Oracle Certified Expert (OCE) certification or equivalent, Qualification or high level of demonstrable capability with relevant vendor business applications.
