The Post 

Brent has an opportunity for an Assistant Category Manager in the Procurement Team. Supporting the Category Managers but given responsibility to own the procurement activities for a particular category or set of categories ultimately  helping to provide great value outcomes for over 300,000 people. 

The Person 

Acting in partnership with your stakeholders you’ll manage complex, procurement projects that are key to delivering good quality public services. In brief, you’ll start to hone your skills in becoming a key strategic advisor, providing expert support and making sure projects achieve the best possible outcomes in supporting the Council priorities and delivering value for money.

With a passion and expertise of procurement processes – ideally in the public sector. You should also have good knowledge of one of the areas listed in the job description, plus a track record of handling multiple projects on the go, delivering to agreed timescales, while keeping key stakeholders appraised of the progress ensuring all elements of the process are kept on track. 

If you are adept at devising procurement strategies, understand the end-to-end procurement process and have plenty of experience leading multi-disciplined teams with commercial acumen and great people skills, this could be your opportunity to stretch your talents to the full.
