An Excellent Opportunity...

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

Things are moving fast at Brent Council. We’re one of London’s most successful boroughs when it comes to new initiatives and smarter working; whether it’s our ground-breaking homelessness prevention scheme or our new Council homes programme, we’re leading the way. We’ve transformed our Customer Services, embraced leading-edge data mining and set up innovative programmes to address issues residents have told us are important to them. It’s all part of wide-ranging change designed to take us into the future.

In 2017, Brent fulfilled its promise of bringing Housing Management back into the Council. Since then, significant improvements have been made to how the properties owned by the three landlord entities of the Council (HRA, i4B and FWH) are managed.

These all make Brent Council an exciting place to be right now. Join us as the Homeownership Manager and you’ll be part of shaping a Council with a real commitment to progress. We want a forward looking, energetic and charismatic leader to head our Home Ownership team. Not only will you be responsible for reshaping the service to deliver to the needs and expectations of leaseholders, we will rely on you to ensure our relationship with our leaseholders is such that they are happy with Brent as their landlord and will choose us again, given the opportunity.

The Post

Brent Housing Management is constantly evolving and striving to improve, and there is always more to do.

We are looking for a dynamic individual experienced in all things Leasehold and Home Ownership, with both the technical know-how and a passion for Customer Experience to design and deliver a pioneering leasehold offer.

As a key manager in our Housing & Neighbourhoods service, you’ll help build a high performing, innovative, customer focused culture that will continuously deliver quality services and embracing change

You will lead a newly merged team of Leasehold and Home Ownership officers, meaning there is scope for the right person to put their stamp on how this service works.

As Home Ownership Manager, you must be about more than just going through the motions of a Section 20 process and service charge billing, we want you to create a team that delivers an outstanding service to the 4,000 Brent Council leaseholders that delivers for now and prepares for the future.

You will know how to build genuine relationships with a range of stakeholders and embody what is means to work collegiately and collaboratively.

You will encourage your direct reports to have a strong sense of team and collectively ensure their finger is on the pulse of all activities across the Housing Service that affects Leaseholders.

The Person

We want a strong leader that instils confidence in senior managers, partners and members of the public.

You should be able to demonstrate your expertise in leasehold and home ownership services.

Your working style should be a balance of cutting through unnecessary red tape and protecting the interests of the Council and Leaseholders.

You must be ahead of the curve, ambitious in your want to transform this service and have the emotional intelligence to take people with you on that journey.
