Are you an experienced Data or Information Governance Officer? Are you passionate about protecting customer data? Are you looking for a permanent role with a successful organisation?

The Data and Governance team is one of the teams in the Technology and Change Service. Our Service provides and supports the ICT infrastructure including network, end user devices, system support, software development and solution design. We also provide project management and business change support across the authority. The service’s priorities are to provide an efficient and effective Technology and change service for the organisation and assist in delivering its change and commercial agenda.

The role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Governance Officer to join our Technology and Change Team to assist and support in monitoring, implementing and reviewing the organisations information governance, record retention and data protection policies and procedures across service areas, providing advice and guidance to individual staff and across service areas and partners to enable and demonstrate compliance with all relevant data protection and statutory legislation including Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR. You will also assist and support services in data quality improvement activities as required which will include travelling across the county.

To be successful, you will have experience of how data protection and information governance can be developed and enhanced within an organisation; have knowledge of data protection legislation and statutory requirements, including requirements in respect of professional body, and have a proven track record of working within a Data Protection, Information Governance, Data Quality or Information Management function. Excellent analytical and, audit and decision-making skills are essential as well as the ability to persuade, influence and negotiate so excellent communication skills are vital. You will have literacy and numeracy skills to Level 3 or equivalent. See our job description for more details.
