Our Team

The Data and Governance team is one of the teams in the Technology and Change Service. Our Service provides and supports the ICT infrastructure including network, end user devices, system support, software development and solution design. We also provide project management and business change support across the authority. The service’s priorities are to provide an efficient and effective Technology and change service for the organisation and assist in delivering its change and commercial agenda.

The role

We are looking for a Data Governance Officer – Data Quality Improvement to join our Technology and Change Team to support the single view of a child project and lead on the identification, analysis, reporting and resolution of data quality issues within the key IT systems that support this project. This includes engaging with the relevant business and technical service areas to implement the necessary changes to improve processes, guidance and system development which will result in better quality data being recorded and consumed within the Council. The post holder will also assist and support services in general data governance activities as required. This will require travel to locations across North Yorkshire.

To be successful, you will have experience of how data protection and information governance can be developed and enhanced within an organisation; have knowledge of data protection legislation and statutory requirements, including requirements in respect of professional body, and have a proven track record of working within a Data Protection, Information Governance, Data Quality or Information Management function. Excellent analytical and, audit and decision-making skills are essential as well as the ability to persuade, influence and negotiate so excellent communication skills are vital. You will have literacy and numeracy skills to Level 3 or equivalent. See our job description for more details.
