Principal Educational Psychologist
Sheffield Educational Psychology Service is a well-respected dynamic and creative service focused on supporting schools to meet the needs of children and young people from the earliest point of identification. In addition to statutory advice, the service offers a core service to schools, working closely with lead headteachers across Sheffield’s seven locality areas. The service works closely with children and young people, parents, partners and schools to promote inclusion of children across Sheffield.
The service currently has a shared Principal Educational Psychologist role and is now looking for an experienced and solution focused individual to replace one half of this team as one of our PEPs retires. We have invested in this post to make it a full-time position so that over time you will be able to take on full responsibility for the service.
You will be an experienced educational psychologist who has a thorough knowledge of best practice when it comes to assessing and meeting the needs of children with SEN. But more than this, you’ll be skilled in building strong partnerships focused on working collaboratively across the education, health and care sector, with schools, parents and children. You’ll be able to lead and inspire to get the best from your team so that they are focused on improved outcomes for all children. You’ll bring the management qualities to be able to manage the team, budgets and bring about service improvement. You’ll be able to ensure that high quality and holistic advice and support is in place to make sure that the needs of children with SEND are identified, assessed, and met across the city.
This is an exciting time to join the Sheffield Educational Psychology Service. You’ll be part of a wider 0-25 SEND service within the newly established Education and Skills Directorate all of which is focused on our Inclusion strategy vision of making sure that Sheffield is an inclusive city where we work together to ensure that all children and young people get the right support at the right time so that they can live a happy and fulfilled life.
