About the Role

Working to support adults, and their families, who have complex social needs and are more vulnerable as a result of disability, exclusion, or diminished capacity, you'll maximise their potential to live independently.

You will assess social care needs using a person centred and strengths based approach and contribute to the development of care and support plans. The role will require you to manage a caseload, including assessment of risk through direct work, within a quality assurance process. A focus of the role will be to ensure vulnerable people are safeguarded in line with ECC's statutory obligations.

We currently an opportunity for a Community Support Worker within our Mid Essex area. Our Mid Essex area is at the centre of our county covering the Braintree, Chelmsford, Maldon and Witham areas. With the only City in the County and rural villages it is a diverse locality to work in. Bordering all other areas of the county you will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across Essex County Council. This is also one of our most connected area of the county, with excellent travel links including direct trains to London.

This is a great opportunity to join a team focused on preventative approaches to social care moving at a fast pace where your Social work experience can be used to impact vulnerable adults lives often at the point of referral into social care.

About You

You'll bring a strong ability to build effective relationships with adults and their families in times of challenge and crisis. You will have the drive and passion to want to make a difference, and a willingness to learn. Ideally you will have some experience of activity-based work with adults and some knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within social care settings.

This role involves travelling around Essex. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential. However, given the current pandemic Essex County Council continues to review its ways of working during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We continue to work within adult social care with a focus on "digital first", where the default position is, where possible, for our staff to work from home (this is continuously reviewed).

All candidates applying to Adult Social Care will be expected to join on a 12-week rota on a 6-day shift pattern and this will include some weekend work. However, we still promote flexible working and a flexible work pattern can be discussed.
