Ensuring Children and Families are at the Heart

In Oldham we have high aspirations to achieve the very best outcomes for children and their families and to sustain them in their communities to live their best lives. We aim to ensure that all children and young people grow up in a safe and secure environment which meets their diverse needs and in which they can thrive.  Our approach is to develop children and families’ strengths and resilience, and we put them at the heart of everything we do, both as a Council and as an inter-agency partnership that we call #TeamOldham.

We are in the process of developing and innovating our service. This post will lead Social Work services in Oldham overseeing the creation of our Assessment and Intervention Team and Edge of Care Offer, with management responsibility for the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), Emergency Duty Team (EDT), Fieldwork, Children with Disabilities Team and our Complex Safeguarding Hub which is going from strength to strength.

As Assistant Director of Social Work Services you will take on a key strategic role and you must be passionate about improving services and to nurture your workforce, helping us to grow our leaders of the future, working closely with our partners.  You will initiate and oversee the implementation of major change programmes and also drive forward excellence in multi-agency practice. You will be joining a strong management team and a dedicated and committed workforce.

Ofsted has recognised the progress we have made and our vision and commitment to deliver the very best services for children and families. Our strong response to the Covid 19 pandemic focused on the delivery of services whilst ensuring our workforce was safe and supported, which received national media attention.

We are now looking for the right person to move us onto the next phase. You must have a track record of achievement and innovation and a focus on the quality of practice and be passionate to continue the improvements and continuously improve our practice.
