Community Support Worker - Safeguarding

Fixed Term, Full Time

£21,057 - £27,391 per annum

Location: Chelmsford

Closing Date: 1st June 2021

Please note, this role is a Fixed Term Contract until the end of March 2022.

With us, you can achieve more - for yourself as well as those you work to support.

We'll give you the tools and resources you need to enable vulnerable adults to live healthily and independently. And, as you continue to grow your expertise, you'll play a key role in the development of our Centralised Safeguarding Triage team.

We are currently offering Community Support Workers the opportunity to be part of a new Safeguarding Triage team service, whose focus will be on triaging and managing all new safeguarding concerns referred into Adult Social Care. This is a new innovative approach for Essex County Council and the successful applicants will be part of a team that will shape how we ensure safeguarding is made personal when applying Care Act thresholds.

About the role

You will be supported by qualified staff to assess risks using a person centred and strengths-based approach and contribute to the development of care and support plans. The role will require you to manage a caseload, including assessment of risk through direct work, within a quality assurance process. A focus of the role will be to ensure vulnerable people are safeguarded in line with ECC's statutory obligations.

About You

You'll bring a strong ability to build effective relationships with adults and their families in times of challenge and crisis. You will have the drive and passion to want to make a difference, and a willingness to learn. Ideally you will have some experience of activity-based work with adults and some knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within social care settings.

This role involves travelling around Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings - sometimes in an emergency. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.

As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service.

This position will initially, in line with current government guidance, be based from home. However, when government guidelines change going forward this role will work in a hybrid way, with an expectation that there will be a mix of days in the office and working from home/alternative locations.

What we offer in return

We'll support you to be to your best, with the resources, training and development to empower you. With a range of opportunities offered by our award-winning Essex Social Care Academy. And, with flexible working options and other lifestyle benefits, we'll enable you to make the most of your life outside work, too.

Whatever you want to achieve in your social care career, you can do it here.
