Job Details

This is a great opportunity to play a key role in the development of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead’s transport strategy working closely with members, communities, partner organisations, Council services and contractors.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Royal Borough - transport and infrastructure will be at the heart of our recovery plans. You will play a key role in developing our new Local Transport Plan to ensure they meet the current and future challenges ahead. We have ambitious plans for sustainable growth helping to deliver new homes and jobs as well as meeting our target of being a net zero borough by 2050 and a challenging trajectory to reduce carbon emissions in the next 10 years.

You will work closely with colleagues across the council and will be a key part of the Infrastructure, Sustainability and Economic Growth service within the Council’s Place directorate.

In the role you will lead the day-to-day work on transport planning and policy to deliver high quality, resident-focused and efficient services to meet the Council’s objectives and secure sustained improvements.

You will have a background in transport planning, with experience in strategy and policy. Relationship management skills will be very important as you will need to build key partnerships to deliver the Council’s objectives and targets.

If you are interested in this role and wish to have an informal chat about it then please contact Tim Golabek, Service Lead – Transport and Infrastructure, at tim.golabek@rbwm.gov.uk to arrange a time.

Company

The whole of Eton town is a conservation area and there are significant areas of Windsor and Cookham similarly designated. The district includes 148 acres of parks, open spaces and recreational grounds and enjoys extensive riverside frontage with associated amenity areas. On the 1 April 1998 the Royal Borough and the other five Berkshire districts became Unitary Authorities and took over responsibility for the services previously provided by the former Berkshire County Council. The Royal Borough includes two ancient boroughs each with its own tradition and history. Windsor is known throughout the world for its castle, which has been a fortress and Royal residence for over 850 years. Both Windsor and its neighbour, Eton are major tourist attractions. The area of the Royal Borough extends along both banks of the River Thames between Runnymede and Windsor and on the south bank of the Thames from Windsor to Hurley. This area includes Datchet, Horton, Wraysbury, Old Windsor, Windsor Great Park, Sunninghill, Sunningdale, the Ascot Racecourse, the castle and the town of Windsor, Eton with its famous college, Maidenhead, the villages of Bray, Cookham and Hurley, White Waltham and Waltham St. Lawrence.
