The Role

We are currently looking to recruit to an Audit Apprenticeship role in the South West London Audit Partnership (SWLAP). You are not expected to have had experience of working in public sector or internal audit, but we are looking for recruits who are confident communicators, curious, can problem solve, take initiative, work as a team, want to learn and take on new tasks.

The South West London Audit Partnership is one of the largest local authority shared audit services, in the UK and provides the internal audit function for five London Councils; Richmond, Wandsworth, Kingston, Sutton, and Merton. You will be working across the partner authorities as part of a modern, forward thinking shared internal audit service. You will assist with providing an independent assurance function, covering assurance on the risk management, governance, and internal control processes.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a strong audit team of 24 staff, with the opportunity to gain experience in risk, control, governance, change management, finance, IT, data analysis, information governance and security, procurement, organisational skills, communication, critical thinking, negotiation, conflict resolution.

  • A paid work placement with on-the-job learning.
  • The opportunity to take part in a level 4 apprenticeship IIA training course  to support with the development of the placement. Apprenticeships in internal audit | Qualifications | IIA
  • Obtain part of a recognised professional qualification.

You will be mentored through your apprenticeship and will gain experience in different types of auditing techniques as well as gaining a good understanding of local government.

Minimum requirement: You must have a minimum of 2 A levels

Contract: - 2-year fixed term contract, with an opportunity to apply for a permanent trainee auditor role, at the end of this period.

Currently all staff are working remotely but will be expected to return to the office on a hybrid arrangement from September 2021, with a flexible arrangement of office and home working.

Interview Dates: 2 stage interviews with dates tbc - A test and presentation will be included in the interview process.
