The Role

Richmond and Wandsworth Councils have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Commissioning Manager, to join the Learning Disabilities Commissioning team in the Adult Social Care and Public Health Directorate.

This position is well suited to an innovative and motivated individual who is passionate about improving the opportunities and lives of people with Learning Disabilities and has demonstrable experience in commissioning and transforming services

At the heart of our work is promoting independence, choice, health and wellbeing of the local populations through strengths-based approaches.

In this role you will undertake, manage, and deliver a range of commissioning activities. This will include the planning and development of services, procurement of new services, maintenance of provider and stakeholder relationships, and service reviews.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing, innovative new service models and shaping the local provider market in a way that promotes the aspirations and ambitions of people with Learning Disabilities
  • Tenacious and creative in working with local providers to ensure high quality and effective services are delivered that demonstrate value for money.
  • Negotiate and resolve complex problems with a range of providers. In addition, the ability to manage change well is a necessity. 
  • Working with a range of internal and external partners to shape and deliver the local priorities including service users and their families and carers.

You will have:

  • In depth knowledge of services supporting people with learning disability and/or autism and the governments agenda in relation to these areas and  be highly motivated, creative, and persistent in seeking solutions and be open to learning from and with others and working with people to effect positive change.
  • You will be highly organised, able to manage multiple strands of work within deadlines and enjoy being involved in a variety of activities and projects.
  • You will have good communication and presentation skills, enjoy working with the people and able to lead and inspire the team.
